BECOME A PRECINCT ELECTION OFFICIAL

YOU CAN SERVE YOUR COMMUNITY
The Trumbull County Board of Elections can offer you that opportunity. 
The Board hires approximately 850 dedicated, community-minded individuals as Precinct Election Officials to staff and operate the polling locations of the county each Election Day.

WHY AM I NEEDED?
Without Precinct Election Officials the election cannot be held.

Precinct Election Officials help to make sure that an election is fair and impartial according to election laws of the State of Ohio.

AM I ELIGIBLE?

Yes, if you are:

  • A registered voter in Trumbull County.
  • Enjoy working with people.
  • Willing to attend a training session.
  • Available for current or future elections.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?

  • Attend a training session - approximately one hour in length.
  • Report to work at 5:30 am on Election Day and serve until all duties are completed after the closing of the polls at 7:30 pm.
  • Voting Location Managers must pick up and return election supplies at the Board of Elections.
  • All Precinct Election Officials set up the voting units.
  • Verify voter eligibility.
  • Process voters.
  • Issue ballots to voters.
  • Other miscellaneous clerical duties.
  • Dismantle voting units and pack up all supplies after the polls close at 7:30 pm.

WHEN AM I NEEDED?

The polling locations must be fully staffed for all elections held in the county.

WHERE WILL I WORK?

Many public buildings such as schools, township halls, libraries and  churches are used as polling locations.  Every effort is made to place you at a convenient location whenever possible.

All Precinct Election Officials are trained prior to each election.  Taxes will not be deducted and no W-2 form will be issued as long as you make less than $600 per year as a Precinct Election Official.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

Persons interested should contact our office at (330) 369-4050 and ask for the following Precinct Election Official Coordinators:

Kelly K:  Girard, Niles, & Hubbard Cities, Hubbard Twp, Liberty Twp, Lordstown & McDonald Villages, Weathersfield Twp.
Robert:  Cortland City, Newton Falls & West Farmington Villages, Bazetta, Bloomfield, Bristol, Brookfield, Champion, Farmington, Fowler, Greene, Gustavus, Hartford, Johnson, Kinsman, Mecca
                  Mesopotamia, Newton, Vernon & Vienna Twp.
